This policy explains what personal information Cosmo School of Motoring collects through this website and by phone, WhatsApp and email, why we collect it, and your rights over it. We follow UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Cosmo School of Motoring is a driving school teaching automatic lessons in Salford and West Manchester. We decide how and why your personal information is used, which makes us the data controller. Information we collect
- Call back form: your name, mobile number and the time you would like us to call.
- Calls, WhatsApp messages and emails: your contact details and whatever you tell us about the lessons you want.
- If you become a learner: the details we need to deliver your lessons, such as your pickup address, your provisional licence details and your lesson history.
- Website usage: information about how the site is used, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies below).
How we use it and why
- To call you back, answer your questions and book lessons. We do this to take steps you ask for before entering a contract with you, and to perform that contract once you book.
- To run and improve the website, which is in our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.
- To meet our legal obligations, for example record keeping.
- To send you information you have asked for. We do not send marketing messages unless you ask us to.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We use a small number of service providers who process information for us:
- Our website hosting provider, which stores the website and the messages sent through the call back form.
- Email and messaging services, including WhatsApp, when you contact us or we contact you.
- Google, for website analytics (Google Analytics and Google Search Console), the embedded map and fonts, and to display our Google reviews through a reviews widget provided by Trustindex.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where that happens, the transfer relies on the safeguards required by UK data protection law.
Cookies
This website uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics so we can see which pages are useful. Google Analytics sets cookies that record, in aggregate, how visitors use the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to respond to you. If you become a learner, we keep your records for as long as we need them to deliver your lessons and to meet our legal and accounting obligations, and then delete or anonymise them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict or stop using it, and ask for it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email info@cosmo-schoolofmotoring.co.uk.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
