Automatic Driving Lessons in Prestwich

Prestwich is a town in the Borough of Bury, north of Manchester and close to Salford, and it is one of the areas Cosmo School of Motoring covers. Your instructor picks you up from home, work or college in Prestwich and brings you back after each lesson. You learn with a DVSA approved instructor in a modern, fully dual controlled automatic car.

Learning to drive in Prestwich

Prestwich is next to Swinton and not far from Salford. Bury is one of the test centres we prepare learners for, so learners from Prestwich can practise for the centre that suits them best.

An automatic car has no clutch and no gear changes, so you cannot stall and your attention stays on the road. Learners usually reach test standard in fewer hours, which tends to make automatic cheaper overall. Your licence then covers automatic cars only.

Your driving test

We prepare learners for test centres including Salford (Manchester Central), Bolton, Bury and Sale. You sit your test in the same dual controlled car you learned in, and your instructor takes you to the test centre and stays for the debrief afterwards. Test hire is charged as lesson time.

Prices for Prestwich learners

• Assessment lesson, £25: one hour, one time only, normally £35. You get an honest estimate of the hours you need and there is no obligation to continue.
• Pay as you go, £35 an hour: book week by week, with two hour lessons available.
• Block of ten hours, £340: works out at £34 an hour, with your regular slot held each week.

All lessons are one hour minimum and include pickup and drop off inside our covered areas. If your postcode is not listed, call and ask, we often cover the streets just outside it.

Common questions

Do I need a provisional licence before my first lesson? Yes. You need a valid UK provisional licence with you in the car, and you must be able to read a number plate from 20 metres, with glasses or lenses if you use them.

Do you teach nervous drivers in Prestwich? Regularly. We start in quiet residential areas, keep the first lessons short if that helps, and only move to busier roads when you say you are ready.

What if I need to cancel? Cancellations with at least 48 hours notice are moved free of charge. Short notice cancellations are charged for the booked time, since the slot cannot be filled.
