Automatic Driving Lessons in Manchester and Salford
Cosmo School of Motoring teaches automatic driving lessons across Manchester, Salford and West Manchester. Trading since 2007 and teaching in Manchester since 2021, we offer a DVSA approved instructor, a modern, fully dual controlled automatic car and door to door pickup.
Learning to drive in Manchester and Salford
Automatic lessons suit learners who want the simplest route to a licence. With no clutch and no gear changes you cannot stall, so your attention goes where it belongs, on the road. Learners usually reach test standard in fewer hours, which tends to make automatic cheaper overall. Your licence then covers automatic cars only.
Your lessons
- Assessment lesson, £25: one hour, one time only, normally £35. You get an honest estimate of the hours you need and no obligation to continue.
- Beginner course: from your first time in the driver's seat to test standard, from £35 an hour.
- Refresher lessons, £35 an hour: for licence holders who have not driven in years, or who want confidence on motorways, night driving or city centre traffic.
- Intensive course: condensed lessons across one to three weeks, quoted after assessment. Read about intensive automatic driving courses.
- Block of ten hours, £340: works out at £34 an hour, with your regular slot held each week.

Your driving test
We prepare learners for test centres including Salford (Manchester Central), Bolton, Bury and Sale, and you sit your test in the same car you learned in. We book a mock test first. When you clear it, you sit the real test in the same dual controlled car you learned in, on routes you have already driven. Your instructor takes you to the test centre and stays for the debrief afterwards. Test hire is charged as lesson time.
