Learning to drive in Leigh, Eccles, Swinton and Prestwich

Eccles and Swinton are towns in the City of Salford, Prestwich is in the Borough of Bury, and Leigh is in the Borough of Wigan. Wherever you start, your instructor collects you from home, work or college. Learning in an automatic means no clutch and no stalling, so lessons stay calm and you can focus on the road.

Your lessons

Assessment lesson, £25: one hour, one time only, normally £35. You get an honest estimate of the hours you need and no obligation to continue.
Beginner course: from your first time in the driver's seat to test standard, from £35 an hour.
Refresher lessons, £35 an hour: for licence holders who have not driven in years, or who want confidence on motorways, night driving or city centre traffic.
Intensive course: condensed lessons across one to three weeks, quoted after assessment. Read about intensive automatic driving courses.
Block of ten hours, £340: works out at £34 an hour, with your regular slot held each week.

Your driving test

We prepare learners for test centres including Salford (Manchester Central), Bolton, Bury and Sale. Bury is close to Prestwich. We book a mock test first. When you clear it, you sit the real test in the same dual controlled car you learned in, on routes you have already driven. Your instructor takes you to the test centre and stays for the debrief afterwards. Test hire is charged as lesson time.

Do you teach in Leigh? Yes, Leigh is one of the areas we cover. Call 07448 980188 to check your postcode and to book your assessment lesson.

Do I need a provisional licence before my first lesson? Yes. You need a valid UK provisional licence with you in the car, and you must be able to read a number plate from 20 metres, with glasses or lenses if you use them. Apply on GOV.UK, it usually takes about a week.

What does the assessment lesson cost? The assessment lesson is £25 for one hour, one time only, normally £35. After that, lessons are £35 an hour, or £340 for a block of ten. There is no joining fee.

What if I need to cancel? Cancellations with at least 48 hours notice are moved free of charge. Short notice cancellations are charged for the booked time, since the slot cannot be filled.
